Job description

This position is for a Network Engineer supporting the project that is fielding for the . The solution is a hyperconverged, multitenant private cloud hosting environment for hosting Army enterprise and tactical applications. Our client is utilizing the full suite of VMware products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu) to implement a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) across multiple global sites. Our client provides value added common and managed services built on top of the VMware foundation, that hosted Army applications will require. Our client is a managed service provider (MSP) and hosting services provider for Army applications. Position Duties:
Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the architecture.
Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware NSX network architecture in the datacenter. As applications are hosted on the solution, utilize IaC for the provisioning of the network foundation for customer enclaves.
Provide daily administration of the network to include patching and upgrading of all VMware network components in coordination with the full suite of VMware products.
Monitor health and utilization of the network resources and notify the AECC lead when critical issues arise, and additional resources will be required.
Harden the network per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls. Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hosting platform network issues.
Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures). Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across the AECC network enclaves. Required Skills:
Senior level network engineer experience with at least five years of experience in implementing IT infrastructure systems, specifically focusing on networking infrastructure in enterprise environments.
Demonstrated expertise in VMware NSX, including design, deployment, and management.
Proficiency in network engineering, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and network security.
Familiarity with the VMware Suite of products: NSX, VSAN, vSphere, ESXi, ARIA, and other VMware tools.
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to VMware infrastructure and network configurations.
Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS.
Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack - network, storage, server, and applications. Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process. Required Certifications:
Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA Tech Level II certification.
Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) any of the following:
VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualization (VCP-NV)
VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Network Virtualization (VCAP-NV)
VMware Certified Design Expert - Network Virtualization (VCDX-NV)
Other equivalent software defined networking industry certification
