1. Experience performing system and security engineering including coordinating, designing, recommending, evaluating, and managing new and existing security services, controls, solutions, processes, and procedures (Strong understanding of cyber security, system administration, and networking fundamentals within a heterogeneous network environment; Experience with cyber security toolsets such as ACAS/Tenable Nessus/SCAP compliance checker and required workflows for system remediation and hardening) (Current security related certification; Security+, CASP+, CySA+, or similar)
2. Experience monitoring networks and providing a timely response to all cybersecurity incidents; Must have the ability to independently respond to alerts, tickets, tasks, user activity and requests, and events, generated by multiple security systems, IT teams, or units (Demonstrated experience in the enterprise level administration of both Windows and Linux systems via effective use of modern endpoint management tools such as Ansible, Red Hat Satellite, MECM/SCCM)
3. Strong understanding of cyber security, system administration, and networking fundamentals within a heterogeneous network environment (Administration and secure configuration of various operating system distributions) MUST HAVE an current, active TS/SCI security clearance with adjudicated CI polygraph Must-Have Requirements:
- Active CI Poly and TS/SCI clearance
- IAM level 1 in 8140 track for DOD , IAT or SEC+ cert
- Solid Systems Administration background
- Good cyber knowledge around security that will be built upon (Linux, not jus installing but STIG and hardening) Major Nice-to-Have's:
- Bachelor's degree (big plus for promotions & salary bumps)
- CYSA or CISSP
- Any managerial experience (even if it was just overseeing a few people in the military)
- Any RMF experience
- A Networking background; OSI strong layer 2 or 3 knowledge and/or any Cisco experience would be a huge plus! (If someone has this background, would have them dedicated to this space anywhere from 10-25% of their time)
- Vmware experience (but ARL can train in house)
- Any Splunk, Tenable, and/or NESSUS experience
- Any Ansible or automation experience would be huge (understand the STIG a bit more in depth to be able to deviate based on additional requirements)
- Full Scope Poly in hand; or willing to obtain (a future sponsor) Responsibilities include:
• Administration and secure configuration of various operating system distributions
• Ensure proper operational support of systems, server and hardware while engaging with stake holders through ticketing system
• Oversight of the installation and configuration of systems to comply with Government regulations
• Generate and maintain system, security, and process documentation
• Respond and remediate system and network security vulnerabilities
• Implement, test, and support new and emerging technologies while applying security best practices, and required compliance measures
• Conduct risk assessments to determine residual level of risk and any required mitigations
• Present system and network security principles and technology solutions to diverse audiences
• Participate in the implementation of required policies, procedures, and configurations; make recommendations for improvements Perform system and security engineering including coordinating, designing, recommending, evaluating, and managing new and existing security services, controls, solutions, processes, and procedures
Monitor all Special Program networks and provide a timely response to all cybersecurity incidents
Independently respond to alerts, tickets, tasks, user activity and requests, and events, generated by multiple security systems, IT teams, or units within the Special Program environment
Conduct risk assessments to determine residual level of risk and any required mitigations
Oversight of the installation and configuration of systems to comply with Government regulations and maintain compliance documentation
Collaborate with IT colleagues on the design of technical infrastructures targeting specific goals This position requires an active DoD Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret/SCI) or the ability to be obtain an (Interim Secret, Interim Top Secret)
