Zachary Piper Solutions is actively seeking a Software Engineer for our Reston, VA office. Position Title: Software Engineer Job Summary: We are urgently seeking a Principal Software Engineer to deliver Agile DevOps support for mission-critical systems. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing robust systems, software, and cloud environments while overseeing operations and maintenance for essential systems. Your responsibilities will include offering technical expertise in the design, development, implementation, and testing of customer tools and applications. Operating within a DevOps framework, you will drive major project deliverables through the entire software development lifecycle, from scope and estimation to design, coding, and unit testing. Key Responsibilities: Lead software development efforts to drive innovation and enhancements using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Python, SpringBoot, Hibernate, and Angular.
Develop and oversee software validation and testing methodologies with tools like Junit and Katalon.
Create and integrate custom software solutions that leverage automated deployment technologies.
Design and deploy solutions within Commercial Cloud environments using Infrastructure platform services.
Collaborate with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to align User Stories with customer use cases.
Analyze infrastructure requirements driven by software development through proof of concept, performance, and end-to-end testing.
Support the Agile software development lifecycle adhering to Program SAFe practices.
Utilize leading DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, and Unix bash scripting.
Document and manage system software development and deployment across various environments using GitFlow.
Communicate project updates effectively to the team and foster team cohesion and productivity.
Use Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence to track project activities.
Apply and recommend best practices and standard operating procedures.
Innovate solutions to address technical challenges and customer needs.
Basic Qualifications: Proficiency with Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and development methodologies.
Extensive experience with Java, Angular, Spring, and C2S.
Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including DevOps toolsets and practices.
Direct experience with software testing performance tools such as Junit.
Expertise in scripting languages like Python and Bash.
Proven experience in an Agile development environment.
In-depth knowledge of development within Commercial Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
Experience with cloud data services (e.g., S3, RDS, EFS).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with version control and issue/problem tracking systems.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with the customer's systems and understanding their development policies.
Familiarity with structured analysis and design methodologies.
