Job description

Firebird AST is seeking an onsite TS/SCI cleared Technical Editor to support a U.S. Government client. This is for a pending contract. Contract award is anticipated early 2025. RESPONSIBILITIES Review intelligence products for proper grammar, punctuation, and syntax, as well as for logic, clarity, and consistency. Ensure that style and format conform to agency publication standards and that language presentation is consistent with prescribed style guide and specialized vocabulary of subject matter fields. Amends draft tables, tone boxes, and graphics to ensure the content supports and is consistent with the accompanying text. Ensure proper classification markings in accordance with IC guidance. Works with authors to revise products for narrative organization, and negotiates further revisions as needed. Edit technical materials, such as reports of analytic or research findings; scientific or technical articles, news releases, and periodicals; regulation in technical areas; technical manuals, specifications, brochures, and pamphlets; or speeches or scripts on scientific technical subjects Apply writing and editing skills and substantial knowledge of the basic principles and specialized vocabulary of appropriate subject-matter fields to the accurate communication of scientific and technological developments to expert and other interested audiences Ensure that all sources are cited in accordance with the Sourcing Defense Intelligence Analysis guide or other agency standards. Verifies that the classification authority block in the first-page footer is complete and correct. Submit products for publication in CORE. Links published products to NCTC Current. REQUIRED Active DoD TS/SCI clearance 8 years of relevant experience. Experience conducting technical editing within the Intelligence Community or federal government Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Word) Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, or in any related field PREFERRED Possess an understanding of and ability to apply military technical order principles, concepts, practices, and standards Experience with XML, Arbor text and/or SGML preferred Process orientation and strong skills in using and following documented processes / checklists. Experience with creation and publication of technical documentation / collection and interpretation of technical data. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, reports, policy, legal documents, etc. Ability to prepare reports and presentations to company management and customer(s). Demonstrated leadership ability, strategic and innovative thinker, and passion for the mission. Ability to identify and solve problems. Excellent organization and time management skills.
