The Pharm - Asst Director manages inpatient or outpatient pharmacies and pharmacy services.

The Pharm - Asst Director meets expense and revenue budgets, provides service leadership and meets customer service objectives; meets all applicable legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

The Pharm - Asst Director supervises pharmacy staff providing inpatient or outpatient services.

The Pharm - Asst Director serves as a liaison with other departments and provides oversight to the technology and automation involved in the medication management process. This position ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including the following patient groups: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.

Job DescriptionLicensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current licensure as a Pharmacist with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current licensure as a Pharmacist with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting
Previous experience with state of the art drug distribution, clinical service methods and pharmacy information systems/automation

Experience PREFERRED:
Five (5) years of pharmacy Experience PREFERRED: in a similar setting
One (1) year of supervisory/management experience in a similar setting
Previous experience and exposure to patient support programs (e.g. Ryan White, ADAP, VHCA 340B)

Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program

Education/training PREFERRED:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program

Independent action(s) required:
Provide leadership to meet staffing and service requirements.
Respond to patient services and other managerial issues independently.
Make hiring, disciplinary and performance review decisions.
