Director of Med/Surg Oncology, Women's and Orthopedics

Location: Richmond, VA

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Med/Surg Oncology, Women's, and Orthopedics to join our partner hospital in Richmond, VA. This leadership position requires a strong clinical background, exceptional management skills, and a passion for overseeing a multi-faceted department.

Responsibilities:

Operational & Financial Management:

Oversee the daily clinical and financial operations of Med/Surg Oncology, Women's Services, and Orthopedics units.

Collaborate with the recruiting team to develop and implement effective staffing strategies.

Participate in selecting external vendors for necessary services.

Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost-effective operations while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Leadership & Collaboration:

Integrate department services with the hospital's primary functions, maintaining open communication with medical and nursing staff, administration, patients, and families.

Coordinate and integrate services within departments.

Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Quality & Performance Improvement:

Develop and implement policies and procedures to guide and support the provision of services.

Supervise nursing staff and ensure their competency through ongoing training and evaluation.

Continuously assess and improve department performance.

Promote the facility's Quality Management program and maintain appropriate quality control programs.

Strategic Planning & Staff Development:

Develop goals and objectives for the assigned areas and contribute to the Nursing Department's overall goals.

Provide orientation, in-service training, and continuing education opportunities for staff.

Remain focused on employee rounding, engagement, and retention strategies.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.

Experience:

Five (5) years of current nursing experience

Two (2) years of management experience required

MUST BE A CURRENT DIRECTOR OF MED SURG/ONCOLOGY

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
