We currently have an opportunity for a Materials Planning & Logistics Manager to join our team located in Richmond, VA at the Bellwood Plant.
Responsibilities:
Your Role:
The Materials Planning & Logistics Manager is responsible for providing input to negotiations for contract purchasing to ensure the highest cost efficiencies and optimize inventory turns through efficient analysis of supplier lead-time and knowledge of sales forecast. You will have the opportunity to:
Search for new and improved buying practices.
Work with other staff and ensures optimum buying and replenishing quantities in order to avoid stock outs and minimize exposure to obsolete inventory.
Work toward lead-time reduction from suppliers.
Schedule all lines in the plant to meet delivery performance and inventory targets.
Implement and track all cost reduction initiatives in shipping, warehousing, and procurement.
Improve transportation and expand our carrier base.
Manage purchasing activities.
Maintain optimal warehouse storage.
Ultimately, you will play a very important role and ensure that the right products are produced at the right time and in the right quantities, ensuring excellent customer service, inventory turns, and working capital utilization. Qualifications:
We need you to have:
Bachelor's degree.
Formal education in planning and purchasing functions.
7+ years of related work experience.
Experience with Continuous Improvement Processes.
Demonstrated proficiency in applying appropriate buying, scheduling, and inventory control techniques.
Proven analytical skills and proficiency at an advanced level in spreadsheet applications, data base management, and Powerpoint.
Proven capability to simultaneously handle a multitude of tasks and changing deadlines.
Proven excellent communications and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.
Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing.
Expert problem-solving skills and out-of-the-box thinking.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once with ease.
Good organizational skills and a great attention to detail.
Icing on the cake:
MBA or other advance degree.
Previous experience working in the Consumer Product Goods industry.
