Job description

Job Summary:

Responsible for efficient and accurate setup and operation of assigned printing processes and equipment. Work in a professional and collaborative manner with all departments and customers to ensure that production deadlines and customer expectations are consistently met. Attend meetings and perform activities related to press room operations as directed. Know and follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Press Room Production


  • Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors, or special printing instructions.
  • Verify that paper and ink meet the specifications for a given job.
  • Change press plates, blankets, or cylinders, as required.
  • Start presses and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
  • Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production problems before printing and before job goes to next step.

Press Room Maintenance & Support


  • Ensure that equipment is properly maintained, including scheduling repairs.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate supplies of inks and coatings to ensure that presses run smoothly and without interruptions; sourcing supplies to ensure good quality and pricing. Notify supervisor if supplies are running low.
  • important production, business, and personnel records are preserved, and regular reports are provided to management regarding costs and operations.
  • Ensure that back room and softener area are monitored and maintained (R.O. filters, etc.).

Qualifications:


  • Two to three years of experience in press operation, multi-unit.

Physical Demands:


  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending and reaching.

Work Environment:


  • Fast-paced environment in which employee is exposed to noise, machinery with moving parts.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
  • Personal protective equipment may be advised or required.
