Basic Purpose

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all activities within the Shipping and Receiving departments including preparation, staging, and loading shipments and complete related paperwork to ensure on time shipments. Receive incoming material and properly enter into the inventory system.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the safety of department's employees to include stringent enforcement of safety policies and procedures, ensuring proper PPE is worn at all times, communication of monthly safety topics, prompt completion of all accident or near miss reports, and ensure that all LOTO procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ensure proper data entry of receiving material or shipment of material is entered into the inventory tracking system correctly.
  • Load and unload trucks properly and safely.
  • Adjust inventory via negative balance sheets to ensure that inventory balance variances coordinate cycle counting results and reconciliation.
  • Must possess and demonstrate good communication and telephone etiquette and skills.
  • Coordinate customer returned material (RMAs). Track customer returned material from point of return to dispositions, completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with invoice reconciliation when necessary.
  • Lead and assign work to all associates in the shipping and receiving departments.
  • Track attendance and vacation for associates in the shipping and receiving department.
  • Able to work in a team environment to include relieving other associates in instances of breaks, absenteeism, vacation or other production requirements.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
  • Work with all required levels of associates to resolve variances, including material handling, Stockkeepers, Associate Supervisors, Team Leaders/ Supervisors.
  • Include communication with cost accounting, scheduling and all needed support associates.
  • Ensure all employees follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
  • Maintain awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; report all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Qualifications
  • Warehouse and Shipping experience necessary
  • Typing, Computer Skills, Good with Numbers, Filing, Forklift, Cycle Counting
  • Online Real-time Manufacturing Control Systems, including MAPICS or current inhouse computer processes.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs. and maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate the following equipment: Forklift, Overhead crane
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for an 8-hour shift and work indoors/outdoors as needed.
  • Must have current and valid Drivers' License.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
