Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance is required to start Travel Requirements : Up to 5% in support of program reviews, conferences, and off-site testing / training Location: Little Creek, VA SUMMARY : WR has an opportunity for a Software Engineer to participate in designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting operating systems and software. Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Provide assistance to users in the development and integration of systems and environments. Install and manage systems and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of systems and environments and efficiently diagnose and resolve system problems. Research, design, and develop computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development. Provide technical management assistance to a group of software engineers within areas of core technical competency under the direction of a Software Engineering Manager, Principal Engineer or Project Manager. Independently formulate and design software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design. Analyze and estimate feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors and peers. Speak effectively before groups of customers or other employees of the organization. Work as part of a team or collaborate with colleagues. Respond effectively to difficult questions in conversation. Accept constructive feedback to improve performance and/or work product. Provide feedback in a constructive and productive manner. Adapt to frequent changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate. Take action when answers to a problem are not readily apparent in unclear circumstances. Identify and solve problems in concise and practical ways. Rely on experience and judgment to plan initiatives and goals. Deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related scientific discipline. Ten (10)+ years of professional experience in C, C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic and/or other object oriented languages. Demonstrated software development using one or more of these languages under the Unix, Windows, Linux, and/or MS-DOS operating systems. Current Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months (Security+, CISSP, etc.) The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate's suitability for the position.
