Job description
SCOPE Recruiting is posting on behalf of a client in the Electrical Power Distribution/ Engineering Construction industry for a Strategic Sourcing Manager role. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including:
Procurement Planning: Lead procurement efforts during the bidding phase, ensuring an understanding of contract specifications and estimated bills of material (B0 = budget zero).
Developing Procurement Plans: Create initial Procurement Plans that cover equipment, devices, subcontractors, and other procurements.
Vendor Management: Source, identify, and prequalify 2-3 viable vendors for each procurement package, ensuring alignment with scope, capacity, and contractual requirements. Focus on vendors in the Electrical Power Distribution industry, including major companies and distributors such as Eaton (Copper Power Systems), Asea Brown Boveri - ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, General Electric Grid Solutions, Mitsubishi Electric, Hitachi Energy, Graybar, Rexel, Capital Electric, Electrical Equipment Company (EECO), Crescent Electric, and City Electric Supply.
RFP/RFQ Development: Develop comprehensive RFPs/RFQs that consider all components of best value and the total cost of acquisition.
Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with project and engineering teams to confirm scope completeness, negotiate terms, and finalize agreements with vendors.
Implementation and Monitoring: Transition the bid-phase Procurement Plan to the project team through a formal hand-off, monitor all deliveries, and close out the Procurement Plan, addressing any discrepancies.
Market Intelligence: Capture and communicate market intelligence, including pricing trends, lead times, best value opportunities, and evolving contract compliance requirements.
Long-term Agreements: Research opportunities to consolidate and streamline product categories, prioritize these opportunities with SBU leaders, and develop long-term deals that provide the best value and lowest total cost of acquisition.

Experience Level:
Ideally 5-15 years of experience with deep category expertise in the Electrical Power Distribution industry.
Specialized and focused experience is required; no job hoppers or general experience that inflates the salary.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
5-7 years of relevant experience in purchasing, sourcing, and negotiating contracts with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), construction/specialty trade subcontractors, and fabricators.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Excel.
Familiarity with business, finance, and accounting principles.
Abilities:
