Security Clearance: Active Top Secret SCI Required Overview:
Polaris Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Corporate Communications Specialist to provide strategic communication support for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Human Development (HD) Directorate. This role will be matrixed to one of the five HD offices, offering communication support while aligning with the overarching HD communication strategy. You will specifically support the Human Development Strategic (HDS) office or the Analytic Capabilities Office, assisting with the communication needs of the HD Front Office. The ideal candidate will excel at developing internal and external communications, strategic messaging, and delivering polished, professional communication products that align with the agency's mission. Key Responsibilities • Strategic Communications Development: Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies that align with the NGA mission, ensuring clear and impactful messaging. • Marketing Strategy: Proactively identify and implement effective marketing strategies to engage target audiences, ensuring broad awareness of HD initiatives. • Customer Analysis & Outreach: Analyze customer needs and provide recommendations for message development, communication methods, and message timing. Tailor messaging to target audiences and outreach groups. • Content Creation & Management: Research, write, edit, and publish various communications products such as print materials, web content, briefings, and email campaigns. • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with graphic designers, briefing developers, photographers, and illustrators to ensure high-quality communication products. • Publication & Media Management: Manage production schedules and ensure timely delivery of communication materials, both internally and externally. • Senior Leadership Support: Provide communication support to NGA senior leaders by drafting speeches, talking points, video scripts, briefings, and articles for various communication platforms. • Strategic Planning & Implementation: Assist in developing and implementing the HD Strategic Communications Plan, supporting leadership with ghostwriting, editing, crafting senior talking points, and producing communication toolkits. • Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct stakeholder analysis to understand communication needs, assess the effectiveness of communication products, and provide feedback to leadership. • Presentation Support: Work closely with leadership to create tailored, visually compelling presentations using PowerPoint and other visual media. • Message Crafting for NGA Workforce: Develop clear, concise messages for internal audiences, ensuring alignment with NGA strategic goals. Required Qualifications • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations or Communication (or equivalent experience). • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret SCI clearance. • Experience: 2+ years of experience in strategic communications or speechwriting. Minimum of 12 months experience updating web content and using electronic publishing tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop Illustrator, or Adobe Pro. Minimum of 12 months demonstrated experience using AP Style for writing and editing. Minimum of 24 months experience in developing communication strategies.
Desired Experience • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with challenges facing NGA, the Intelligence Community (IC), and the Department of Defense (DoD). Understanding of NGA functions, products, and technologies. • Analytical & Leadership Skills: Strong data analysis and leadership in managing contract sub-tasks and projects.
Skills & Tools • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in PC platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and publishing tools like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Pro. • Communication Skills: Excellent oral, written, and AP style editing skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities. • Additional Skills: Experience in project management, briefing, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and in teams. Working Environment: • Primarily office-based with occasional client site visits and PPE requirements as needed.
