Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Remote with occasional travel to Washington, DC and
Springfield, VA
Clearance: US Citizenship Required, this opportunity supports a
government contract. Active DHS EOD/clearance (TSA preferred)
Description:
We are seeking a Data Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join our
team in designing, implementing, and optimizing data architectures and
pipelines. You will work closely with our Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) client, particularly the Transportation Security
Administration ( TSA ), to build and manage data infrastructure that
supports AI, machine learning, and automation initiatives aimed at
enhancing operations, reducing costs, and improving efficiency.
We are seeking candidates with a mix of leadership, technical, and
business experience in mission-oriented environments. We are especially
looking for candidates that have worked in DHS and have an active
EOD/DHS clearance.
This role will be responsible for supporting a wide range of project
activities spanning business and technology environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and architectures that
support data-driven decision-making across AI and ML initiatives
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to
ensure data availability, integrity, and quality
- Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data
from various sources into centralized systems
- Design and build scalable and reliable data architectures that support
AI/ML models and advanced analytics
- Ensure data security and compliance with federal regulations,
including managing sensitive and classified data
- Monitor and maintain data pipelines to ensure continuous data flow and
resolve any data-related issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and integrate new
data sources and optimize data management practices
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data
engineering, cloud infrastructure, and big data processing
- Perform other related duties as required to support the mission.
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer
Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline from an
accredited college, university, or academic institution in the United
States.
- Active DHS/EOD clearance (TSA preferred)
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, including designing and
implementing data pipelines, ETL processes, and data architecture
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, or SQL ) for data
manipulation and processing
- Experience with databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data warehousing
solutions
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Microsoft Azure)
for data management and storage
- Knowledge of data governance, data security, and federal data privacy
regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the
ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and to explain
technical concepts to non-technical users
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to
quickly grasp complex automation concepts
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
environment
- Attention to detail and capability to meet tight deadlines while
delivering high-quality solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, or
Airflow
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) and
distributed systems
- Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate) and
their integration into data pipelines
- Experience working in environments requiring DHS Suitability Clearance
is highly preferred.
