JOB TYPE: Full-time

LOCATION: VA US (Primary)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

VAE is looking for an experienced engineer with deep working knowledge of InfoVista Service Assurance Suite and related Performance Management technologies. This employee will be a member of a DoD Contract Infrastructure team and will provide expertise in report design, metric development, maintenance, and optimization in support of critical business functions. The ideal candidate will be flexible and flourish in a fast paced and challenging environment. They should be a self-starter, self-motivator and possess ingenuity to excel at this position.

Operations focus:

  • Provisioning, developing, integrating, extending the above vendor solutions:
  • Able to read/write "integration" code using Perl, Shell, Python and PLSQL languages
  • Skillful with typical collection protocols such as SNMP, WMI, VMWare API, SMI, and RestAPI
  • Understanding of XML and JSON formatting
  • Actively participates in operations management advanced troubleshooting (tier 3 support)
  • Interacts directly with customers and executives
  • Actively participates/leads multi-customer 'tiger teams' to solve complex, chronic IT problems
  • Presents complex information to non-technical executive groups
  • Manages large-scale, real-time performance management solution
  • Able to perform and accurately analyze packet captures using tcpdump and/or other available software

Other Skills

  • Acts as ombudsman for customer
  • Provides routine, ad-hoc reports to executives, technical support, projects, and engineering personnel
  • Mentors junior staff
