Safety and Occupational Health Specialist The Ascendancy Group's Mission

This contract provides general warehousing services to include the maintenance and repair of containers, biomedical equipment, and civil engineering equipment (CEE); the production of Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS) at The Navy Expeditionary Medical Support Command (NEMSCOM), Cheatham Annex (CAX), Williamsburg, Virginia. Security Requirement: • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Government SECRET security clearance is required. Roles and Responsibilities: • Plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health program. • Advise the staff on Safety and Occupational Health program management, accident prevention and control; safety education and promotion, accident investigation, reporting and analysis, and on all matters relating to compliance with PL 91-596, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act). • Plan and organize a continuous program involving safety and occupational health for both military and civilian personnel. • Assist in evaluating safety program efforts, standards, rules, SOPs, and work techniques. • Provide technical assistance and guidance on all work-related problems and matters relating to compliance with wide application of Army and OSHA standards. • Monitor work areas and evaluate activities with known safety problems as indicated by a high record of work injuries, or a variety of hazardous operations and environmental conditions. • Investigate hazardous conditions, equipment, practices, or equipment to identify and analyze the severity of the hazard involved and develop corrective action. • Monitor Safety Improvement/Awareness Programs to evaluate the effectiveness of training. • Coordinate problem-solving activities involved in the procurement of required safety equipment, determination of respirator requirements, and industrial hygiene issues with related operational and support program personnel. • Conduct safety audits and surveys and submit written reports. • Log, track, and analyze accident data for trend and predictive analysis. • Develop safety reports, charts, spreadsheets, and other statistical data. Assisting in accident investigation and reporting. • Develop and conduct safety training for military/civilian personnel. Minimum Requirements: • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. • Degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. • Experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. • To be credible, at least one year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression. • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) is preferred.
