Job Summary
The purpose of the role is to provide direct clinical supervision to assist in maintaining appropriate clinical standards and to facilitate the functioning of nursing units or assigned area for a defined shift.
Education
Bachelors Nursing preferred
Experience
2 years Healthcare/Medical - Nursing General
Additional Experience Requirements
Required RN experience:
Currently an RN III within VH, or meets criteria to be hired as an RN III (all 5 of the last 5 calendar years in a comparable acute care specialty setting)
or
Currently in a Non-Ladder RN position within VH with a minimum of 5 years of recent relevant experience
or
Currently an RN II within VH with a minimum overall rating of exceeds standards on most recent
VH performance appraisal
Certification & Licensures
RN Nursing License
required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved
required
National certification by specialty organization preferred (Force 1 and 14)
Additional Certification/Licensure Requirements
Based on primary state of residency and in accordance with current Virginia Board of Nursing Regulations, must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia with either a:
Multi-state license; under the Nurse Licensure Compact OR Single-state license, valid in Virginia only.
New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualifications

Competent to provide care using the nursing process
Demonstrates mentoring, teaching and leadership skills.
Knowledge in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.
Physical Demands
20 A Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Patient Care Tech.
Work Function/Activity : Light to heavy physical demand (20 to 100 lbs) Frequent hand washing required. Occasional sitting. Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, holding, stretching, reaching, climbing. Frequent repetitive arm, hand and finger movements. Frequent use of surgical and medical equipment and materials. Visual ability to see details at a distance (corrected to 20/40) and at a close range (within a few feet of the observer), to match or detect differences between colors, shades of color, brightness and to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away, and to judge the distance between an object and the observer. Able to speak clearly so that it is understandable to a listener. Able to identify and understand the speech of another person. Able to focus on a single source of auditory (hearing) information in the presence of other distracting sounds and to detect or tell the difference between sounds that vary over broad ranges of pitch and loudness. Mental activities necessary include a high level of cognitive functioning with nursing, observation, evaluation, assessment, communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and decision-making capabilities. May be exposed to fluctuating temperatures.
