Job description

Duties You will serve as an International Military Student Officer and be responsible for conducting essential management, supervision, and academic record administration for approximately 275 International Military Students (IMS) that annually attend an USCG resident training course. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Conducting internation military student management and administration in accordance with USCG, DoD, and DoS references using DoD online databases and Microsoft Suite programs. Partnering with customers and stakeholders on the planning and executing of international resident training. Serving as the USCG's Security Assistance Network (SANweb) system administrator validating IMS arrival, course enrollment, vetting, language proficiency, and reviewing IMS Invitational Travel Orders (ITOs) to identify and resolve discrepancies. Developing cost documentation that incorporates direct and indirect costs associated with international military students attending USCG resident courses. Managing the USCG's Field Studies Program (FSP) to enhance the understanding of international military students on the responsibilities of government, militaries, and citizens to protect, preserve, and respect the rights of every individual. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Experience includes knowledge of workings of foreign governments, the nature of their military and civilian governmental structure, and the culture and political dynamics influencing them. Experience supporting the DoD and DoS Security Assistance / Cooperation programs and the organizational policies, goal objectives, and directives as applicable to foreign assistance laws and statutory requirements as they apply to planning, obtaining, and executing international student training orders. NOTE: Education CANNOT be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
