Job description

Duties You will work in responsible areas, such as production support and telecommunication support offices. You will consult with customers to identify and specify requirements. You will assist with planning, designing, developing and integrating network systems consistent with existing infrastructure, maintaining network architecture and infrastructure. You will implement and adhere to Cyber Security requirements of a various network-based communications systems to include Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). You will maintain liaison with and being responsive to the needs of all users of information systems on the network. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 441, proficiency level Intermediate the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Work may include assignment to second, third, or rotating shifts. The incumbent must participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually. The incumbent must meet qualification requirements of the specialty area assigned as delineated in Appendix 4 or SECNAV M-5293.2. The incumbent is expected to understand the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and the protection of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI). Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing telephone customer support services by designing, installing, setting up, servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing of numerous types of telephone related equipment. Equipment include but are not limited to Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Private Branch Exchange (PBX) based communications systems, Analog telephones, Digital telephones, and associated peripheral equipment. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: ensuring effectiveness in meeting user requirements and accuracy of estimated time frames and project problem areas. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Consulting with customers to identify and specify requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Liaison with, and being responsive to the needs to all users of information systems on the network. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolving problems related to network support information technology (IT) services. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
