Job description

Duties You will supervise FWS inspection programs with direct responsibility for supervising inspectors of mechanical, piping and structural systems on nuclear reactor plant systems to accomplish the inspection function. You will ensure the quality of work with respect to inspections and testing under assigned cognizance. You will be responsible for assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assigned within the parameters established by the projects and the Nuclear Inspection Division management. You will ensure pre-use inspection and verification of markings for reactor plant materials are carried out, ensuring proper material control and marking is maintained on assigned work. You will coordinate priorities and deadlines with numerous project and production personnel to maximize efficient use of personnel while meeting the Shipyard's needs. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position requires the ability to perform inspections onboard ships and in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time in standing, stooping, or crouching positions which would cause muscular fatigue or physical strains. Work may require lifting, and or carrying, generally not in excess of forty-four pounds. This position requires the physical ability to perform duties in areas reached by ascending or descending ladders, staging, etc. This position requires the ability to work backshift and remain flexible to adjust work shift as necessary to support workload. Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
