To be considered for a Permanent Bus Driver Position you must have the following: Commercial Drivers License Class B (or higher) License Passenger Endorsement School Bus Endorsement Air Brake Restriction - Removed Current DOT Medical Examiner Certificate (MEC) Must have (or be able to obtain) OSPI School Bus Driver Authorization School Bus Driver In-Service Training (Current year certification) School Bus Driver Physical Certification First Aid/CPR Certification First Aid is Federally Required, CPR is District Required Must be able to pass Pre-employment Drug Screen Pre-employment Background Check (Including current fingerprint check) Must consent to: Abstract of Driver Record Check FMCSA Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse Check School Bus Driver Annual Disclosure Form Bus Driver positions, hours to be determined, 180 days/year for the Transportation Department. Training and steps needed to acquire a CDL available. Training is paid at minimum wage. In order to be hired as a Bus Driver, a current/valid Washington State CDL Class B, with all appropriate endorsements, is required. District experience preferred. JOB DESCRIPTION - BUS DRIVER GENERAL DESCRIPTION Bus Drivers will operate school buses, including, but not limited to, carryalls, vans, single and dual wheel. The Bus Driver will operate buses for scheduled runs in the pick up and delivery of students to and from school, mornings and afternoons, and co-curricular and other school activity trips. Reports to and evaluated by: Transportation Supervisor or Designee RESPONSIBILITIES Drive buses on regularly scheduled routes and on field trips. May fuel and clean buses, and perform minor mechanical and safety checks and preventative maintenance. Maintain safety control over passengers. Participate in bus driver training courses established by the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Participate in drug and alcohol testing as required by law and District policy. Perform related additional duties as may be required or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Must be qualified school bus driver, and: (after training) Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Possess Class B commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement. (after training) Possess a current first aid certificate. Possess a current Department of Transportation physical certificate. Possess exemplary driving record. Possess high tolerance for noise disruption. Possess skills in anger control and communication skills with adults and students. Possess skills in operating school buses, including, but not limited to: carryalls, vans, single and dual-wheel buses. Be physically able and willing to handle effectively all duties of the position. Be physically able to lift fifty (50) pounds (WAC-96.126.096). Must have above-average record of attendance, punctuality, and reliability at work. Must have neat and clean appearance upon arrival at work. 12/96
