Ship Repair Superintendent Job Summary

We are seeking a Ship Repair Superintendent will oversee and manage all aspects of ship repair and maintenance projects. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in ship repair, excellent leadership skills, and a strong focus on ensuring project quality and efficiency.

Ship Repair Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Project Management:

    • Plan, coordinate, and oversee ship repair and maintenance projects from initiation to completion.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
    • Ensure that all repairs and maintenance work meets the required quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:

    • Lead and manage repair teams, including tradespeople, technicians, and subcontractors.
    • Provide direction, support, and training to team members to ensure high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Quality Control and Safety:

    • Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that all work is performed to the highest standards.
    • Enforce safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or incidents.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relations:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding ship repair projects.
    • Address client inquiries, provide project updates, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the repair process.
  • Budget and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage project budgets, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
    • Monitor and control project expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budget constraints.
    • Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment necessary for repair projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and compliance with regulations.
    • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and outcomes.

Ship Repair Superintendent Position Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in Marine Construction Supervision, and tradesman experience at the journeyman level in a Marine Construction Field
  • BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience
  • Proficient computer skills in Outlook, Excel, and Project
  • Knowledgeability on modern shipbuilding including the creation and use of build strategies, master schedules, product work breakdown structures, material requirement planning, product modeling, wok order creation and budgeting, resource loading and detailed scheduling.
  • Previous journey -experience in a shipbuilding trade

Price Range from $90,000 - $120,000 per year
