As a Spacecraft Rigging Specialist, you will be responsible for safely rigging, lifting, and maneuver the spacecraft throughout the satellite manufacturing
facility. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development and setting the stage for later production hardware. We
are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast paced, start-up like environment. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while
showing the highest standards of execution.
Key job responsibilities
- Perform critical lifts for space rated hardware.
- Provide guidance and direction in the development of lift & rigging plans.
- Ensure all lifting and rigging operations are in accordance with safety policies and best practices.
- Ensure all lifting and rigging equipment is tracked, inspected, maintained and remains in good working condition.
- Mechanical/electrical assembly of PCB assemblies, wire harnessing, satellite components, subassemblies, and integration of final vehicle assemblies
- Run functional testing of built hardware, including setup, instrumentation, test execution, and teardown
- Operate and maintain complex automated equipment, including troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and maintenance
- Identify equipment requirements for planned hardware builds, maintain consumables inventory, and develop procedures and processes accordingly
- ESD/EPA, 5s, and Cleanroom procedures
- Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times 1st shift: 7 AM - 3:30 PM. Shift will vary, depending of program needs
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to
perform the functions of this position
- Able to lift up to 49lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Minimum 3 years experience in performing critical lifts.
- At least 1 year operational Aerospace, Aviation, or other production experience.
- Must have certified forklift training (or be willing to be trained)
- Must be willing and able to work with powered lift equipment - for example forklift or cherry picker.
- Valid Driver's license and able to satisfy driver eligibility criteria.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Expert knowledge and certification in rigging and lifting equipment.
- Expert knowledge and certification in rigging and lifting equipment.
- Experience in rigging and lifting equipment inspection and maintenance.
- Experience rigging related safety measures.
- Experience with lifting processes, procedures, and work instructions.
- Experience with aerospace or aviation quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as: layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures/work instructions; schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list
- Electro-mechanical assembly and prototype development experience
- Able to proficiently use a PC, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
