Bus Driver JobID: 295 Position Type: Transportation/Bus Driver Date Posted: 8/9/2024 Location: Kittitas School District Date Available: 09/04/2024 Additional Information: Show/Hide KITTITAS SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Title: Bus Driver Direct Supervisor: Transportation Director POSITION: Bus Driver LOCATION: Kittitas School District HOURS: Approximately 5 hours/ day, 189 Days/year Representation: Public School Employees of Washington Salary: PSE Salary Schedule 24-25 PSE Salary Schedule Benefits: PSE Classified Employee Benefits Position Description: The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students and other authorized persons over regular school routes and extra-curricular and special activity trips as authorized by the school district in all types of weather conditions including but not limited to fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow, and ice. Essential Job Functions: This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties: Drives a school bus carefully and safely at all times on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities both within and outside of the school district boundaries. Supervises and maintains control of student passengers as related to safety and report unsafe acts or conditions which require attention of any person other than the driver. Operates all hand and foot controls installed in bus as requirement by Washington State (minimum) School Bus Specifications. Operates school bus in accordance with Washington State laws and policies promulgated by Superintendent of Public Instruction. Performs required operational and safety inspections of the school bus and all related equipment. Services, inspects, and cleans buses and related equipment, (to include interior/exterior; sweeping and washing; installation of fuel, oil, and coolant; tire inflation, etc.) as required by state and district policy. Operates and services all school bus equipment and accessories including but not limited to fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, snow chains, sanders, first aid kits, etc. Completes forms, records, timesheets, trip requests, route studies, trouble reports misconduct reports, accident reports, and other clerical type activities as may be required by the state or district policies and procedures. Attends all mandatory classes related to school bus authorization. Performs basic first aid/CPR as appropriate. Maintains updated knowledge of district policies and procedure that affect this position. Maintains consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours. Professionally interacts with students, staff, and public. Complies with all district policies and procedures. Other Job Functions: A. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. At least five (5) years prior driving experience. Preferred Education and Experience Commercial driving experience. Required Skills, Knowledge and or Abilities Ability to handle buses under normal or abnormal conditions. Ability to establish and maintain a professional and positive working relationship with students, parents, staff and the general public. Ability and desire to be a positive role model for students. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Other Be at least 21 years old and have five (5) years driving experience. Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License. Qualify for a Commercial Driver's License. Required to provide a satisfactory Driver's Abstract showing professional and person driving record. Pass physical examination. Record of dependability, flexibility, and regular attendance.
