You will work closely with vessel captains, engineers, and the shore-based management team to ensure that all vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in line with industry regulations. The role involves managing technical operations, troubleshooting, and coordinating with shipyards and external contractors for scheduled maintenance and repairs.

The ideal candidate will possess a Marine Engineering degree or a U.S. Coast Guard Chief Engineer license, with significant experience in the maritime sector, particularly with tanker operations. The position requires regular interaction with vessel crew, regulatory bodies, vendors, and senior management to ensure the optimal technical performance of the fleet.

Port Engineer Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to minimize vessel downtime and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and supervise shipyard repairs, dry-docking, and vessel upgrades, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
  • Work closely with vessel captains and engineers to identify mechanical, electrical, or operational issues and provide solutions.
  • Ensure that all vessels meet regulatory requirements, including classification society standards, flag state regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of vessel maintenance, repairs, and inspections, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring that critical spares are available when needed.
  • Assist with budgeting and cost control for maintenance, repairs, and operational expenses.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to vessel crews to ensure efficient vessel operations.

Port Engineer Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or a U.S. Coast Guard Chief Engineer license.
  • 5-7 years of experience in marine engineering, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked with tanker vessels or U.S. Flag vessels.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Chief Engineer's license or relevant marine certifications.
  • Thorough understanding of tanker operations, U.S. maritime regulations (USCG, ABS), and marine engineering practices.
