Job description
Duties A GS-2210-12, SUPV IT SPEC (NETWORK): Directs the installation, engineering, testing, evaluation, modification, maintenance, and reporting of the full range of Communications-Electronics (C-E) equipment and systems assigned. Evaluates scheduling, rescheduling or reassignment of work. Tracks time and work completion that is critical for safety reasons, workload, and manpower requirements. Takes, directs, or recommends remedial actions to correct problems or deficiencies and to preclude recurrence. Advises the Commander of significant issues and matters affecting the production, control, and effectiveness of the unit's C-E systems function. Plans, develops, and implements local maintenance policies, procedures, and goals for effective administration, direction, management, and operation of the flight. Ensures the proper use, management, and training of all personnel, consisting of multiple technical disciplines within the flight. Ensures that efficient position management is practiced and that position descriptions of subordinates are accurate. Interviews and recommends selection of new employees. Provides training and orientation. Ensures new employees are briefed in their duties and responsibilities. Establishes work performance standards and discusses and assigns annual performance evaluations. Initiates disciplinary actions, promotion actions and step increases. Provides technical assistance to organizations/units in establishing digital communications requirements. Prepares and submits budget estimates and revisions for the procurement, installation, and maintenance of equipment and supply items. Ensures formulation of comprehensive training plans for each function and specialty within the flight. Exercises continuing responsibility for safety conditions, procedures, and work practices employed within the maintenance community. Ensures periodic inspections of work centers are performed and immediate action is taken to correct unsafe conditions. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS : Military Grades: 2nd Lt - Maj Compatible Military Assignments: N/A - Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the AFSC to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain AFSC within 1 year of appointment action. - Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. - Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. - Must maintain membership in the WA Air National Guard for continued employment. - Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. - This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. - Position requires ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. - May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. - The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Education Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Not Applicable. To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or other documentation of proof to support your Educational claims. The subordinate work involves analytical and evaluative duties associated with computernetworks with primary knowledge requirements of the transmission of information in voice, data,and/or video formats, information processing methodology, computer capabilities, processingtechniques and information security techniques. Able to assess and ensure compliance, supportability and planning for a widevariety of programs and operations that may include but is not limited to multimedia, qualitycontrol, software test analysis, communications security, help desks, network control center, andcomputer systems operations.
