Job description

Duties Direct, supervise and manage 24X7 operations with 2 subordinate shift supervisors. Manage the enhanced 911 system, and manages data for evidence and statistical purposes. Supervise first line repair of equipment based on circumstances. Maintain digital recording and call check systems, and retrieve and maintain digital files required for evidence or investigative purposes. Advise on issues of Dispatch Communications, to include review of completed emergency calls for quality of performance and needed improvements in communications procedures, upgrade of communications hardware/software to meet local needs, etc. Direct and supervise the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls by dispatchers, to include installation Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Police, Commercial Intrusion Detection System and Transmitted Fire alarms. Supervise and direct emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the emergency medical dispatch systems of JBLM and the municipalities in the local region. Ensure employees initiate an immediate, appropriate, emergency response to include but not limited to how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the Heimlich maneuver, emergency childbirth, opening an airway and controlling bleeding. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work to support mission operations. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training. Must wear a uniform and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene. This position requires to obtain and maintain the following certifications: Emergency Medical Dispatch System, Department of Defense Hazardous Materials Awareness, Fire Dispatch Certification, Law Enforcement Dispatch Certification. Additional certifications: and be Emergency Medical Dispatch QA Certification and the National Fire Danger Rating System Certification. All the certifications are required to be obtained within the first year of employment. This position requires to attend the Washington State Public Safety Dispatcher Training through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission and Department of Defense Telecommunicator 1 and 2. The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally. The incumbent must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent, or better, as reviewed by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
