The Hiring Manager may close this position at any time. Description: The transportation monitor's job is to supervise WSSB students during transport. Student supervision and maintaining a safe and secure environment during transport is the core focus of this position. Monitors ensure that students are always supervised at all times. This position is scheduled to work Friday (beginning at approximately 11am and ending at 12am) and Sundays (beginning at approximately 9am and ending at 9pm) during transportation times. Monitors are encouraged to interact and communicate with students while on the vehicle in a professional manner. Duties include: Complete weekly bus monitor reports. Monitor students during weekly bus runs ensuring student safety. Reinforce appropriate behavior and social skills among students. Respond to any students inappropriate behavior with positive behavior intervention supports. Maintain confidentiality concerning student behavior and health information. Administer any emergency or as needed medications to students. Communicate with students, parents, and supervisor using provided technology. Complete student behavior documentation as directed by supervisor. Follow emergency protocols if an emergency were to arise. Working Conditions: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to move around as needed to monitor students during bus runs. Ability to carry supplies needed for weekly bus runs. Required Qualifications: Ability to obtain First aid and CPR certification. Ability to obtain Washington State Food Handlers Permit. Ability to obtain Residential Child and Youth Care Professional Certification. Ability within two years of hire to learn basic UEB braille. Preferred certifications: Valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement Driver's License and minimum age of 18; Experience working with blind or low vision people; Experience working in educational environmen; Certified Lifeguard What We Offer! Note: The full salary range has been posted for informational purposes only. New hires without State of Washington agency experience in a similarly situated position typically do not start at the top of the range as these are considered senior/longevity steps. Education/experience will be considered for the proper placement of any final candidate. This position also includes additional 5% assignment pay. Part-Time staff are also eligible to accrue vacation on a pro-rata basis in accordance with WAC 357-31-165. Holidays are paid in accordance with WAC 357-31-010.
