Job Summary:The Transducer Repair Technician I is responsible for disassembly, reassembly, troubleshooting and repairing electronic components of medical ultrasound transducers (Transducers). Repairs performed are to be completed through documented repair methods and in compliance with ISO 13485:2016 standards. Adherence to these requirements is not only for Summit Imagings commitment to quality, but also for the high level of patient safety that our customers expect from us.
The Transducer Repair Technician I position requires competency in product repair utilizing documented procedures. Knowledge of electronics principles will be necessary for progression. Excellence in communication skills, multitasking abilities, and the ability to follow through with instruction will be required for success in this role.
Due to the nature of the repair industry, we periodically will require that our employees skill sets are augmented for the company to stay competitive. These skill sets will be in line with other skills within the tier. Expectations will be first discussed and trained prior to solidification as a responsibility. These specific job requirements are listed in the Production Job Matrix.
Below are the generalized descriptions of responsibilities for the Transducer Repair Technician I:
Operational Responsibilities:- Utilize documented procedures to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronics (including Shotgun procedures)
- Produce simple schematics to aid in troubleshooting
- Demonstrate and maintain competent soldering skills with through-hole, SMD (larger & smaller than 0603), Small Outline Package, Flat Packages (DFN/QFN), and BGA reflow
- Perform competently and consistently transducer repairs including cord whitening, bending rubber replacement, TEE oil replacement, removal of bubbles, housing polishing, painting of connector housing, RTV application, chemicals mixing, plastic repair, re-lensing, label processing and general probe cleaning.
- Competently repair electronics at the component level, board/assembly level and line repair
- Demonstrate and maintain competent soldering skills with through-hole, SMD, Small Outline Package, Flat Packages, and BGA reflow.
- Demonstrate adequate use of soldering iron, hot air, de-soldering and related soldering cleanup.
- Repair simple component-level problems with limited data sheets
- Meet or exceed expectations established for repair times
- Support the team with creations or improvements in processes and capabilities
- Communicate difficulties to lead or manager
- Complete projects as required by management
- Complete tasks as required for company-wide responsibilities
- Work in a deadline-driven atmosphere and handle multiple projects/tasks with an attention to detail
- Complete training required for job duties and demonstrate competency through testing and performance evaluations
- Maintain designated shop equipment
- Assist in transducer identification and alternative compatible Transducers
- Perform testing of transducers to ensure proper operation after repairs have been completed.
- Assist in fulfilling sales requests
- Reporting status of transducers in process at designated times
- Assist in developing solutions for customers with the Transducer Manager and Customer Support Representatives
- Maintain and improve quality of product during the repair process
- Assist in the development and improvement of department forms, work instructions, and processes to ISO 13485:2016 standards
- Actively participate in process or documentation improvements to ISO 13485:2016 standards
- Complete quality control checks on repaired and returned Transducers
Minimum Requirements:
Industry Specific Skills:- Experience using small/precision hand-held tools
- Experience using electronic testing equipment including X-ray, Huntron, DMM and FLIR
- Ability to utilize industry standard equipment for electronics repair including drafting simple CAD drawings, mixing chemicals, vacuum pump, media blasting, weighing devices, painting (aerosol and airbrush), dry box and ovens.
- Ability to identify parts numbers for Philips and GE ultrasound systems
- High degree of eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity
- Strong knowledge of the operation of component level electronics is required
- Strong knowledge of computer components and functions
- BGA removal and installation expertise is helpful but not required
- Can demonstrate competency in the process of troubleshooting utilizing documented procedures including Shotgun procedures
General Skills and Achievements:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- AS or AAS in electronics or equivalent experience is preferred but not required
- Two or more years of electronics repair experience is preferred but not required
- Good written and oral communication
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven atmosphere and handle multiple projects/tasks with attention to detail
- Must be able to work overtime if necessary
- Proficient in Windows 9.x, XP, 8.x, 10, and DOS. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Passing a drug test and background check is required
- Ability to perform and thrive in a continual learning environment
- Can carry and move tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
Compensation details: 22-26 Hourly Wage
