Tact Staff is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Petersburg, West Virginia.

Small West Virginia Hospital is in need of a travel nurse to work a contract in their OB. Department does about 25 births a month on average. To hear more about this assignment call Medical Solutions at . 50 mile radius rule - ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF CANDIDATE'S UNEXPIRED DRIVER'S LICENSE Department: LDRP RN - # L&D Beds: 3 - # OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 1- located in OR not on unit L&D go. RNs will go to the OR for the C-sections as the nursery nurse. LDRP nurse will prep patient, hand off to OR nurse-OR nurse will assume full responsibility for patient. Patient then goes to PACU for 1 hour to recover and then back to the floor. - # Triage beds: ER does initial triage. They do have 4 total observation beds (2 semi private rooms) Antepartum patients may be in observation beds. - # Postpartum beds: 8 total- 4 semi-private rooms. - # Births per day? Month? Year?: 240 per year or average of 20 per month, typically 4-5 births per week. - Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios: They do their best to follow AWHONN guidelines Will have at least 2 RNs on per shift. - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring Certification. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Low risk we deliver 34 weeks and above. We also treat antepartum patients- example: IV hydration, rule out labor, abdominal pain. - Experience: 3 years experience working in LDRP. Ok with 1st time travelers. Must be comfortable not having MDs in house, only on call, no OR staff in house. Need to be comfortable making decisions on their own and have good critical thinking skills. - Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Pitocin, Mag, rarely apresoline-typically transfer out if this is needed, will start. They do not do insulin drips here. - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Night shift coordinator in ER utilized as a resource- they will not have L&D experience. - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit?: Yes, there 1 aide. They do general tech duties, blood sugars, vitals, document baby feeds/vitals, answer phones, print off labels/consents. - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7: No- on call 24/7. 1 OB and 1 Pediatrician. OB does his own epidurals, if patient has an epidural on board OB will stay in house. - Anesthesia in house 24/7: Only for C-sections, OB does own epidurals. - RT Equipment: RT in house 24/7 but no vents or CPAP for neonates. - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit: Post op C-section patients wear tele, but the RN does not monitor strips- PACU monitors for 1 hour and SCU unit will monitor for 23 hours. - EFM System: Philips, IntelliSpace Perinatal-fetal monitoring surveillance. - EMR: MedHost. - Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts 7-7. CANNOT accommodate block scheduling. Manager does schedule and will try to work with request. - Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend- Fri, Sat, Sun. - Holiday Requirements: Rotate holidays with perm staff, for Christmas will have to work the eve or day. - Is there a call or standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements?: No - Scrub Color/Dress code: Royal Blue- hospital provides scrubs - Unit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts of orientation 1 day shift and 1 night shift if on overnights.
