Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Surgical Technician provides technical assistance to the physician during surgical and diagnostic procedures. This person prepares instruments, stocks the operating room, and monitors equipment before, during and after surgery. The Surgical Technician has an understanding of the procedure being performed, provides patient care to the surgical patients under supervision of the registered nurse and works closely with OR staff to provide comprehensive quality patient care. The Surgical Technician follows proper infection control practices and use of personal protective equipment.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with call expectations of 1 day per week, every 4th weekend rotation and 1-2 holiday calls per year.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of a Surgical Technician program, eligible for certification (to become certified within six months of hire)
BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year directly related experience is preferred but willing to consider new graduates.
Experience in EPIC computer system
