At Securian Financial, the internal title for this position is Security Senior Representative.

Securian is looking to add an afternoon Security Officer to our team. The officer will patrol a one million square foot corporate campus while being vigilant for security, safety and maintenance issues. The officer will rotate between foot patrol, staffing a security desk and operating a state of the art command center that features over 200 cameras, sophisticated access control/fire/life safety systems and a computerized dispatch system. Security Officers are all trained as Emergency Medical Responders and respond to all campus medical emergencies. The person that will thrive in this position will be customer service oriented with solid computer/technology skills.

Hours: Between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, with the ability to occasionally work flexible hours as needed on other shifts.

10% shift differential applies to this job

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide customer service assistance, direction and information to associates, tenants, visitors and the general public.
  • Monitor life safety systems, card access, closed circuit TV and elevator equipment by completing initial troubleshooting and identifying repairs to ensure systems are working effectively.
  • Respond to problems which arise involving building operations, fire, security, medicals and weather. Summon fire and police assistance as necessary.
  • Write reports, complete forms, document activity and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Effectively and independently handle responsibilities consistent with documented policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated communication, customer service and human relations skills to effectively interact with associates, tenants and visitors.
  • Ability to learn how to effectively operate the components of an integrated security system and command center.
  • Ability to provide accurate documentation; clear and concise written communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment to ensure effective response to security incidents and emergencies.
  • Ability to use discretion when dealing with critical, highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Minnesota or Wisconsin driver's license and good driving record.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Excel.
  • Fingerprinting and background checks will be conducted; employment is contingent on satisfactory background checks.
Physical job requirements:
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to utilize telephone (while periodically reaching) for approximately 1-4 hours per day
  • Ability to push/pull/lift/carry approximately 25 pounds
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of administering CPR and First Aid as needed in emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly in emergency situations (with police, firefighters, p/a announcements, etc.)
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to perform simple and firm grasping (e.g., paper manipulation, sorting, grasping of equipment/machines, handling stacks of paper) periodically throughout entire workday

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$18.27 - $31.73
