Hey there! Lad Lake is looking for kind, patient, and team-oriented folks to join our crew. In this role, you'll work directly with young men who have been through tough times. Your responsibilities will include showing them how to build positive relationships and teaching them important life skills like staying active, good hygiene, getting along with others, handling tough situations, and managing their emotions. As a caregiver, you'll also get to help plan fun activities and be there to help out in tough times. The Treatment Technician role can be a great way to start a career at Lad Lake, as many of our current team members started here and have moved up to become Unit Managers, Campus Supervisors, Teachers, and Trainers.

JOB SUMMARY

To properly model behavior and provide supervision, guidance, structure, and behavior management to clients in residential and shelter programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serve as a positive role model for the youth in our residential care programs.
  • Make deliberate efforts to create opportunities for youth to enhance their skills, abilities, and interests.
  • Actively supervise youth by engaging in activities that interest them.
  • Plan and lead activities and daily routines.
  • Use verbal de-escalation techniques to intervene in crises with youth.
  • Participate in, evaluate, and document youth activities (shift logs, incident reports, behavioral management logs, databases, etc.).
  • Offer support to youth, their families, and ancillary service providers.
  • Provide transportation in agency vehicles for youths' community-based needs and activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all written and verbal communications.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Must be:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Candidates must be available to work weekends.
  • Demonstrate social, emotional, and intellectual maturity.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Patience and understanding in dealing with challenging situations
  • Abibility to identify and appreciate positive aspects in people and circumstances
  • Capacity to remain calm and defuse tense and frustrating situations
  • Demonstrate social, emotional, and intellectual maturity
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and empathy to build rapport with adolescents who use aggression as a coping mechanism.
  • Assertive, self-confident, and sensitive when working with teens and staff - trauma-informed.
  • Demonstrate social, emotional, and intellectual maturity.
  • Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions
  • Familiarity with computers and MS Office
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and disability issues

Physical Demands: Duties require possible physical activity while engaging with youth in the program. In rare situations, staff may need to use physical de-escalation techniques to intervene if staff or clients are in danger of being physically harmed-the ability to lift 30 pounds is required.
