Truss & Wall Panel Designers

We are looking for Truss & Wall Panel Designers to join our growing team at our building materials and lumber company that has a great reputation of taking excellent care of their customers. We are dedicated to helping our clients and contractors to complete their projects, finding the best materials and supplies with top-of-the-line customer service provided.

The Truss/Wall Panel Designer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks and operations, occasionally going out in the field to get the measurements and scope of work in order to complete projects as necessary. The ideal Truss/Wall Panel Designer for this role has previous experience or knowledge of general construction and procedures along with a high understanding of math and engineering.

Responsibilities for the Truss & Wall Panel Designers:


  • Create detailed 2D & 3D designs for Truss and/or Wall Panel projects
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and company personnel
  • Create drawings of truss/panel/features and layouts
  • Ability to analyze data and field conditions to design working plans and schematics
  • Understanding of building codes
  • Develop designs and cut sheets based on client selections and designs
  • Estimating of projects
  • Design mass-produced components by preparing or checking take-offs
  • Field measuring and job site visits
  • Complete field "As Builts" (confirm job installed per plans)
  • Ability to think outside the box to solve problems
  • Prioritize tasks and meet required deadlines

Requirements of the Truss & Wall Panel Designers :


  • Minimum 2 years of Truss and/or Wall Panel design experience (required)
  • Highly proficient in MiTek (preferred) or Alpine
  • Extensive knowledge in Auto CAD or other 2D & 3D drawing software
  • Firm understanding of mathematics, engineering, and general construction knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others to solve problems
  • Occasional day traveling to job sites, clients and company locations may be required
  • Highly organized and structured
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred
