Job description

Our client is looking for a hands-on Quality Manager to develop and manage the overall Quality Program at their Greater Madison Area facility. This position is open due to a recent promotion. The Quality Manager will teach and measure the Quality Program to ensure that the customer's requirements are met or exceeded. The Quality Manager will manage 10 reports. This position will report directly to the Director of Quality.

What you will be doing:



  • Be a hands-on leader of 10 Quality technicians and oversee their work, training and careers.

  • Skilled in Statistical Process Control to train production staff to implement at all production levels.

  • Following good manufacturing practices (GMPs) to ensure product safety.

  • Work closely with internal departments and customers to arrive at acceptable part specifications and to communicate these standards to all affected departments.

  • Provide direct supervision and training to staff in the performance of routine or random inspections and maintenance of appropriate documentation of findings.

  • Manage the calibration program and schedule for the plant.

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis for Customer Call Reports.

  • Interact with customers for returned parts and coordinate rework or other appropriate action. Communicating the resolution to necessary internal departments.

  • Complete requirements from Corrective and Preventative Action Resolution (CPAR) Teams.

  • Remain current with new Quality Technology and recommend changes to the Quality Program as needed.

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and continued maintenance of quality measures & registration.

  • May serve as an SQF practitioner and/or backup SQF practitioner for any other plant, respond to customer audits.



What they are looking for:



  • BS in Engineering / Materials Science / Plastics or other technical degrees.

  • 2+ years in a leadership role and 2+ years in a quality role in either the plastics, packaging or sheet metal industries.

  • Must have the ability and desire to train and direct employees in quality practices.

  • Experience with product validation, statistical analysis and root cause analysis is needed.

  • Must understand and have practical experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Must have or be willing to earn an ASQ CQE Certification at the companys expense.
