Applications Engineer

TGC Search is partnered with one of our top clients in Milwaukee, WI looking to add their next Applications Engineer to the team in a direct hire/full-time position.

As an Applications Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with Sales Engineers, customers, and internal teams to create equipment and system concepts for customer sales. This role involves determining pricing and terms, preparing detailed proposals, and having a strong understanding of industrial and automation equipment such as robots, electric motors, servo motors, conveyors, PLCs, specialty machines, gearboxes, pneumatics, bearings, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with Sales Engineers, customers, and internal and external resources to gather information and define project solutions.
  • Collaborating with vendors to assess the performance, interface, price, and delivery times of project components.
  • Producing detailed and accurate proposals within the company's profitability goals and specified time frames.
  • Creating cost estimates, including labor, in-house parts, purchased components, and other associated costs.
  • Producing or modifying 2D and 3D concept and layout drawings for proposals, either personally or through company CAD resources.
  • Travelling to customers or vendors as needed.
  • Meeting with company management to review proposals before submission to customers and implementing suggested changes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least an Associate's Degree in a related field, such as electronics, robotics, or automation technology, and a minimum of 5 years of experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Experience developing price estimates or proposals for mechanical or electrical automation equipment.
  • Experience writing technical documentation describing mechanical systems and their components.
  • Proficiency in producing 2D or 3D CAD files using software like AutoCAD or Solidworks.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
