Epic or other electronic records systems experience is a plus. Medical billing or registration experience a plus.

Here is what you will be doing:

Reviews and processes applications for patients who are applying for financial assistance; verifies patient information and documentation and works to identify funding sources
Works with patients and families to communicate eligibility requirements and follows up to obtain missing documentation needed to complete applications in a timely manner
Ensures that applications/referrals are screened and processed accurately, efficiently, and within specified timeframes for applicable programs
Regularly follows up on the status of applications and programs to identify any barriers and works to resolve issues; provides letter of determination to approved/denied patients
Logs, documents, and maintains monthly financial assistance activity statistics and the electronic health record (EHR); reconciles data and ensures complete and accurate record-keeping; regularly updates.
Organizes, files, and maintains financial assistance applications to ensure appropriate access for organization staff and external auditors as necessary
Investigates and verifies patient billing information and benefits to determine patient financial obligation for course of treatment and meet with patient to discuss. Able to run estimates.
Assists patients with completing FMLA, financial liability, disability forms, setting up payment plans and taking payments.
Meets with patients at the bedside, office, or by telephone.
Works to gain knowledge and assist in government programs

Desired Skills:

Strong knowledge of healthcare business operations and concepts related to financial assistance
In-depth knowledge of financial assistance programs, as well as the guidelines and application procedures
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organizational, interpersonal, and supervisory skills
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to interpret and apply patient financial information and standard work
Ability to adjust approach based on patients' specific needs
Ability to work independently and productively under stress, as well as prioritize work effectively
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor while working in a team environment
Strong Personal computer, hardware and software/MS Office skills
Strong data gathering, compilation, reporting and database management skill
Ability to prioritize and use time management

Here is what you will need:

Associate degree or higher in Finance, Business, Healthcare, or related degree
OR High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) AND two (2) or more years of job-related experience
3 Months: Complete Marketplace Certification within three (3) months of start date
