Job description
Overview The SkyRange program is developing and integrating advanced sensors/capabilities and providing flight operations & maintenance for a fleet of manned/un-manned/optionally manned air-vehicle systems to support hypersonic capability development. The SkyRange test architecture includes both MQ-9 Reapers and RQ-4 Global Hawks allowing for the capture of real-time telemetry, real-time multi-spectral full motion video, maritime range surveillance and clearing, and the collection of weather data to support real-time launch decision-making for high-speed system testing (HSST). This unique capability set will increase overall National flight test capacity while greatly reducing costs associated with HSST. i3 is seeking a Senior Sensor/Capability Development Engineer in Huntsville, AL to support the SkyRange program. This position is primarily a product development and aircraft integration/test project role. Successfully interfacing with customer community stakeholders, internal team stakeholders, aircraft OEMs, and sensor/capability development subcontractors to plan and manage project execution to meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements is paramount. The position also includes subcontractor management, prototyping oversight and acceptance, qualification and reliability testing oversight, test event planning, and HSST flight test range support. Responsibilities Sensor/capability development project management Sensor/capability development subcontract oversight Product test and acceptance planning and execution Prototyping oversight and acceptance High-speed system testing flight test range support Action tracking and root-cause/corrective action management Integrated Master Schedule development and maintenance Technical data package and bill of material management On-site integration and test support On-site visits for Tech Interchange meetings FMECA Analysis Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field. 6+ years aviation related engineering experience, or equivalent required Experience with airborne sensors including RF telemetry, EO/IR, and maritime radar systems. Ability to deploy TDY for test operations up to 25% of the time. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Team/leadership experience. Active Secret clearance required. U.S. Citizenship is required. Preferred: Master's degree in a STEM field. Unmanned aircraft avionics development and integration experience (MQ-9, RQ-4, etc.) Weapon system test experience, especially long-range / broad ocean area testing. Quick reaction capability development and fielding. Experience with hypersonic weapons systems. 5+ years avionics product development and aircraft integration. 3+ years development subcontractor oversight. Experienced with Integrated Master Schedule development and maintenance. Senior project manager/team leadership experience.
