Position Title: Network Engineer C4I

Location: Camp Pendleton, CA

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000

Roles and Responsibilities:

This role will support the Warfighter Integration Simulation Environment (WISE) Lab located at the Warfighter Support Division (WSD) in Camp Pendleton, CA. The WISE Lab is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to developing and evaluating innovative solutions that enhance the integration of technologies, tactics, and strategies to empower our warfighters. The mission of the WISE Lab is to create a collaborative environment where interdisciplinary teams of researchers, engineers, and military experts work together to design, simulate, and assess complex scenarios that replicate real-world battlefield conditions. Through the fusion of advanced simulations, virtual environments, and data-driven analysis, the WISE Lab aims to provide valuable insights into optimizing decision-making processes, communication strategies, and the utilization of emerging technologies in high-pressure situations. The Network Engineer C4I role will utilize COTS, GOTS, and Program of Record (POR) hardware and software to manage, and maintain the network and server infrastructure, configure test and development environments, procure software and hardware, and backup and restore systems. The primary objective of the Network Engineer C4I is to assist the WISE Lab Manager in ensuring that the IT infrastructure aligns with the organization's needs, remains secure, and operates reliably.

The Network Engineer C4I will also assist the FMF in creating, managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining large and small-scale tactical networks. These support efforts are provided to military units while deployed, in garrison, in preparation for, and while participating in major exercises and contingency operations.

The Network Engineer C4I provides:

Network and server management to ensure optimal functionality of all systems, including maintaining servers for uptime, updating software, and managing network infrastructure.

Hardware and software procurement and installation to maintain and expand the WISE Lab infrastructure and capabilities.

Data backup and recovery to safeguard the organization's valuable assets and ensure their availability.

Performance testing and monitoring to analyze data to identify and resolve potential issues affecting hardware, software, and network performance.

Simulation tool expertise to assist warfighters, commanders, and policymakers to visualize and interact with dynamic operational scenarios.

Network, server, and virtual environment management.

Hardware and software procurement and installation.

Data backup and recovery.

Performance testing and monitoring.

Integration support of emerging technologies with existing Program of Record (PoR) systems.

Ongoing training and supervision of analysts regarding computer software, hardware, and lab procedures.

Technical documentation for WISE Lab hardware and software usage (how to connect to shares, create virtual machines, use domain resources, etc.).

Inventory documentation of hardware and software assets.

Interface with FMF personnel and US Government employees to provide break/fix support to USMC tactical networks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Research questions using available information resources: technical manual, operating and administrator guides, fleet advisory messages (FAMs), and internal approved knowledge base(s).

Identify and elevate situations requiring urgent attention.

Tactical networking setup, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting support.

Education:

Certification listed above accepted in lieu of higher education: And

Experience equal to degree level

Required Knowledge/Expertise:

Virtual local area networks (VLANs), Virtual Trunking Protocol (VTP), port channels, router-on-a-stick, layer 3 switches, Point-to-Point (PTP) links, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), route filters, GRE and MGRE tunnels, Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), Black Core/Colorless routing, multicast, access lists, and TACLANEs.

Microsoft domain replication, domain trusts, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Windows Deployment Service (WDS), SharePoint, Windows Firewalls, LDAP, SCCM/MECM, Bluecoat Proxy Server, PKI, and FSMO Roles.

VMWARE ESXi, VCSA, VSAN, virtual switching, vMotion, EVC, HA, DRS, and VM templates.

Experienced with creating Visio diagrams for capturing network and server architecture.

Familiar with ANW2 and MUOS networks.

Integrating classified networks into network architecture through the use of TACLANEs.

Cisco routing and switching, Unity Connection (CUC), IM & Presence Service (CIMP), CUCM, UCS-E,

Integrating classified networks into network architecture using Crypto Key Generators.

Experience working with customers, addressing issues, and managing customer concerns and requests over the phone and in-person.

Strong active listening, data entry, and documentation skills.

Experience writing technical solutions and commercial knowledgebase articles.

Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and consistent resolutions of IT problems.

Effective communicator of highly technical information.

Adaptable to fluid environments.

Requirements

TRAVEL REQUIRED FOR POSITION - Must be able to obtain or possess a valid US Passport and by physically qualified to support miliary exercises and contingency operations.

Experience supporting Marine Corps C4I systems and equipment.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in military training and education.

Direct participation in real-world operations is desired.

Willing to work in a 24x7x365 secured environment, demonstrate intuitive problem-solving skills, and allow for flexible scheduling.
