Another Source's client, Fresno State University, is recruiting a Director of Finance for the Fresno Foundation Financial Services team. This is a full-time benefited position onsite in Fresno, CA.

The Fresno State Foundation manages the financial activities relating to sponsored research grants and contracts, gifts and endowments (including related scholarship and loan accounts), and campus program trust accounts.

About the role:

The Director of Finance provides management, leadership, and strategic direction for the Foundation's financial services, including overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, endowment management, and compliance. You will lead a dedicated team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of operational excellence, and collaborating with campus leadership, board members, and external stakeholders to support the university's mission.

This key position will ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, supervise the annual audit process, oversee tax compliance, and manage endowment performance reporting.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is: $125,000- 135,000.

To make your transition to Fresno as smooth as possible, Fresno State offers a relocation reimbursement package to help cover moving expenses.

How you will spend your time:

Lead the Foundation's financial services team, setting departmental goals and addressing team concerns to ensure customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness.

Oversee the preparation of annual audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors to meet deadlines.

Ensure tax compliance by overseeing the preparation of annual tax returns and presenting financial summaries to the Audit Committee and Board of Governors.

Prepare and review financial reports, including monthly Statement of Activities and Endowment Performance Reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

Monitor financial activities related to grants, scholarships, endowments, and trust accounts, ensuring compliance with government regulations and internal controls.

Serve as a financial resource for university leadership, providing analysis, forecasts, and policy recommendations to improve financial operations and decision-making.

Participate in investment oversight, including cash flow forecasting, and interact with financial firms as needed.

Oversee special projects, including the management of the Student Managed Investment Fund and serving as Trustee for the Foundation's 401(k) plan.

Foster strong relationships with campus administration, faculty, staff, board members, and external partners, while continuously seeking opportunities for process improvements.

What you will bring:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or a closely related discipline.

Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in corporate accounting or similar environment.

CPA license preferred.

Evidence of successful financial portfolio management is highly desirable.

Proven ability to supervise, lead, and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals within the organization and the campus community.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and maintain a high level of tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

Flexibility to adjust priorities and work under the pressure of deadlines.

Proficiency in accounting/budgeting software and Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word).
