Responsibilities:
Liberty Military Housing is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Director of Payroll to oversee the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for over 1,500 employees across multiple states. This role will leverage Workday HCM/Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance to ensure accurate and timely payroll administration. The Director of Payroll will also be responsible for annual ESOP auditing, managing the payroll team.
Location Requirement: This role is not remote and will require the team member work from an office located in Huntington Beach, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Manage the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations across 11 states.
Perform audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations.
Team Management:
Lead and develop a high-performing payroll team, providing guidance and support.
Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment focused on achieving payroll accuracy and deadlines.
ESOP Administration:
Oversee the annual administration and auditing of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
Collaborate with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Bonus Programs & Total Compensation:
Manage and administer various bonus programs, ensuring accurate calculations and timely disbursement.
Systems Management:
Utilize Workday HCM and ADP Compliance and ADP Wisely to streamline processes and enhance payroll functionality.
Stay updated on system enhancements and payroll best practices to continually improve payroll operations.
Reporting & Analysis:
Generate payroll-related reports for management and stakeholders, providing insights into payroll expenses and trends.
Analyze payroll data to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
Annual US Census data filing, Quarterly Washington L&I filing
Annual W/C Audit
Qualifications:
What You Need for Success:
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance issues.
Experience with Workday HCM/Payroll and ADP Smart Compliance is highly preferred.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field required.
5+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Pay Range $125,000 - $149,000 annually plus bonus
