Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon's discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

We seek a seasoned Senior Counsel with a strong contract law background and hands-on experience with other in-house legal areas to support our growing organization. The Senior Counsel will be an integral member of Eikon's growing legal team and will have responsibility for multiple areas commensurate with skills and background. In this role, you will report into the Associate General Counsel (VP of Legal), and you will oversee a talented contracts team and, depending on your experience and interests, you may also be responsible for one or more of the following legal areas: privacy matters, employment matters, strategic third-party transactions, corporate governance, or healthcare compliance. You will also be responsible for working with leaders across Eikon to support important functions including in Clinical, Research, Engineering, Business Development, Finance, and HR.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Associate General Counsel on the supervision and development of legal department staff
  • Oversee the contracts function for the Company
  • Commensurate with experience, skill, and interest, this role may also include one or more of the following areas:
    • Support clinical contracting and related legal matters
    • Advise on legal matters related to privacy regulations
    • Draft, review and support the negotiation of term sheets and agreements relating to various transactions, including inbound and outbound strategic deals
    • Provide counsel regarding employment law matters, including matters involving hiring, termination, investigations, accommodations, leaves, and policy development
    • Advise on healthcare compliance program and related matters
    • Support corporate governance and securities related matters
  • Work with and manage outside counsel
  • Collaborate with and provide advice to colleagues and leaders across the Company

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from a nationally accredited law school
  • Admission to the California state bar, registration as in-house counsel, or ability to gain admission or registration for within 90 days
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in performing legal services in or for companies in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Demonstrated abilities to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with leadership, scientists and G&A colleagues
  • Excellent project management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently

The expected salary range for this role is $235,000 to $270,000 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
