Program Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is the integrating element of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense and combatant commanders at strategic, regional and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to collectively see the battle develop, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks, integrates and synchronizes autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is an integral part of all system ground and flight tests which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities. Job Responsibilities: Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. Position will also provide mentoring to junior systems engineering team members to enhance skills in the department. Works with the enterprise test architect to enable system sell off capabilities as required. Candidate needs to have the ability to be flexible to support various tasking on short notice. Work will be performed under the direction of the Global Architect Lead, and will require interfacing with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available. Responsibilities include adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basis. Candidate will be actively involved in the efforts associated with Agile development including iteration planning, mentoring team members on architectural patterns being used, and agile team leadership. Required Skills: Demonstrated experience working large multi-site software development efforts including external interface development Demonstrated experience executing under Federal Acquisition Regulations including Operational Concept development, Requirements, System Decomposition, Standards Compliance, Design, Implementation and Selloff Demonstrated experience conducting or leading Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies and/or Design Evaluations Familiarity with cyber, platform and network architecture technologies, dependencies and design drivers Candidate must possess an understanding of systems engineering process and principles. A successful applicant should have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions. Candidates should have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g. specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.). Candidates should also have experience in with developing large, complex software systems. Candidates should have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions. Excellent communications skills are required (written and oral) as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project. Desired skills include experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Model Based System Engineering, Architecture development, Virtualization, Containerization, and Cloud Computing principles. Travel supporting program reviews and customer meetings to CONUS sites including Huntsville, AL and Shriever SFB expected.
