Director, Corporate Affairs, Cardiovascular Disease

What you will do

Lets do this! Lets change the world! In this critical role, you will lead the development and execution of U.S. and global communications for Repatha and reinforce Amgens leadership in cardiovascular disease (CVD). You will drive bold, impactful communications that address CVD, a leading public health crisis, and LDL-C as the most modifiable risk factor for heart attack and stroke.

Your communications strategy will leverage partnerships with leading advocacy groups, experts and institutions in CVD, as well as implementation science to emphasize the urgency of LDL-C testing and guideline-based treatment.

Ideally Los Angeles area preferred or remote with the ability to travel to Thousand Oaks, CA as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement communications strategies that support business objectives and drive behavior change among patients and HCPs in collaboration with Commercial, Medical and Advocacy teams.

  • Deliver high-impact, integrated communications plans to amplify Amgens cardiovascular story across bespoke channels and platforms.

  • Support Repathas growth and new indications through data and milestone-driven communications.

  • Collaborate with the Advocacy Relations team to align communications initiatives with both Amgen's and advocacy partners' goals.

  • Advance the communications strategy for initiatives such as the LDL Action Summit and LATTICE.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal CVD teams and external partners on communications efforts.

  • Lead the social media and influencer strategy for CVD.

  • Seek opportunities for learning and growth, including piloting new approaches and measuring their impact.

  • Adapt swiftly to new information, and support issues management efforts.

  • Liaise effectively with colleagues in Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Government Affairs and Commercial teams.

  • Oversee PR agencies, providing clear direction and measuring results and impact.

  • Inspire and lead a team of communications professionals.

  • Established experience with data-driven communications, drug launches, and regulatory milestones.

  • A strong track record in issues management and consumer-facing campaigns.

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and agency partnerships.

  • A commitment to quality, excellence and continuous improvement.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of communications or public relations experience

Or

Masters degree and 7 years of communications or public relations experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 9 years of communications or public relations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 - 12 years within communications or public relations

  • Deep understanding of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or health care

  • Proven ability to develop and execute multi-faceted strategic communications campaigns in a matrixed organization

  • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to truly understand business challenges and priorities and develop actionable programs that integrate soundly with business objectives

  • Meaningful experience in social and digital media, earned media relations, issues management and internal communications

  • Passion for the role, paired with strong written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment and adapt to rapid changes

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills

  • Collaboratively work with a diverse group of people and backgrounds

  • Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity

  • Experience in creating and translating scientific and technical content for a broad range of audiences

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
