Bright- Star is currently seeking a Lead Product Engineer in the DC/Tysons corner area. Bright Star Solutions provides specialized Systems Engineering, Functional Engineering, and Data Analytics support to federal agencies. Bright Star is a small business consultancy based in the heart of Washington, DC. Must be willing to get a CBP BI Clearance, which takes 2-3 months and requires a significant background investigation. As a Lead Product Engineer, you will: The Lead Product Engineer will support the CBP PMO and support critical national security programs. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate travel and trade. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide "eyes and ears" technology to protect our nation. • The Lead Product Engineer will work with systems engineers, program managers, and technical subject matter experts to ensure successful product acquisition in all phases of the acquisition
• Leads technical activities and directs the engineering technical management team in providing systems engineering activities to support the system acquisition and sustainment life cycle
• Coordinates with government and team members to formulate, review, and execute technical requirements and engineering related task plans, studies, analyses, reports, and deliverable items
• Manages technical deliverables and ensures timely and quality delivery of products and services, mitigates risks, and executes corrective actions
• Develops and leads strategic effort for the organization to increase efficiencies, quality, and transparency; while deducing time, risk, and burden of tasks
• Advises on all SELC activities and guides Digital Transformation and Innovation strategies
• Organizes, directs, and manages technical support functions involving multiple, complex, and interrelated project tasks
• Communicates at senior levels within a customer organization and meets with customer and contractor personnel to formulate, review, and execute technical requirements and engineering-related task plans, studies, analyses, reports, and deliverable items
• The position is primary hybrid/remote, but there is approximately 1 day a week on-site in the DC/Tysons area. There is 10% travel required. Basic Qualifications: • Most important skill is communication, candidates must be articulate, professional, poised, and experienced deftly handling complex topics with clients, everything else is negotiable
• Must have experience with the Federal Government
• Bachelor's degree in related field with 10 years or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field
• Knowledge and/or expertise with surveillance technology, including cameras, radars, sensors, and integration platforms
• Experience in developing and executing engineering documents and plans in support of large, complex programs
• Knowledge of DHS or DoD acquisition life cycle framework and systems engineering life cycle framework
• Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and leadership skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, independent performer who can perform well in a collaborative, team environment
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities
• Must exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the customer as well as high standards of quality and excellence in performing individual duties Clearance: Active CBP BI / Suitability Determination (strongly desired but not required); other DHS Suitability Determinations (especially with a Background Investigation) are a big plus, any Public Trust or Secret/TS clearance also a plus
