Job description

Graham Technologies (GTECH) is looking for a PKI Engineer in the Washington, DC, area to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies, including designing, implementing, and maintaining secure PKI systems. As a Senior PKI Engineer, you will oversee the architecture, deployment, and management of PKI solutions, providing expert guidance to ensure the security and compliance of our organization's digital certificate services. Key Responsibilities: Design and Architecture of PKI Systems: Develop and maintain the architecture for PKI infrastructure, ensuring it meets the organization's security requirements and best practices. Design solutions for certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, and management for various use cases (e.g., user, device, application, server certificates). Implementation and Deployment: Lead the implementation of PKI components, including root and subordinate Certificate Authorities (CAs), Registration Authorities (RAs), and related hardware and software. Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for PKI operations and maintenance. PKI Operations and Management: Oversee day-to-day PKI operations, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PKI systems to ensure high availability and performance. Manage the lifecycle of digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, and revocation. Security and Compliance: Ensure PKI solutions adhere to organizational security policies, industry standards (e.g., NIST, FIPS), and regulatory requirements. Conduct security assessments and audits of PKI infrastructure to identify and mitigate risks. Support and Training: Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders regarding PKI-related matters. Develop and deliver training sessions to educate users and administrators on PKI policies and procedures. Incident Response and Forensics: Participate in incident response activities involving PKI systems, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. Conduct forensic analysis in cases of suspected certificate misuse or compromise. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of PKI architecture, configurations, procedures, and changes. Generate regular reports on PKI performance, security metrics, and compliance status for management. Required Skills: Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field or 4 years' experience in lieu of degree. Security Clearance: Active TS, SCI eligible Experience: 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing PKI systems. Strong experience with Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) and other PKI technologies. Proven experience in securing and managing root and subordinate CAs. Technical Skills: Deep understanding of PKI technologies, including X.509 certificates, CRLs, OCSP, HSMs, and key management. Strong knowledge of cryptographic protocols (SSL/TLS, S/MIME, etc.) and their implementation. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and management tasks. Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex PKI concepts to non-technical audiences.
