Property Accountant Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in property accounting or a similar role within the real estate industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly as they apply to real estate management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Yardi or MRI experience = major plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Property Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements for multiple properties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including processing invoices, payments, and tenant billings.
  • Monitor and analyze property budgets, identifying variances and making recommendations for cost control.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for assigned properties.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies, including lease agreements and reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with property managers and other team members to provide accurate financial information and support decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit required tax filings and other financial reports.
