Job description

Duties The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as Section Small Shop Chief no more than 25% of the time over journey level mechanics involved in maintaining avionics equipment and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks herein. DUTY 1: Performs administrative supervisory duties over the journey level mechanics in the section no more than 25 percent of the time. DUTY 2: Installs electronic systems, components, or subassemblies in aircraft. DUTY 3: Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies. DUTY 4: Troubleshoots electronic systems, components, or subassemblies to determine nature of malfunction and corrective action required. DUTY 5: Performs overhaul, repair, fabrication, or modification of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship Required Males must be registered for Selective Service, see Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC with little to no supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics trade and knowledge of tool equipment and materials accounting and security. 2. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade. 3. Knowledge of mathematical expressions and formulae including algebra and basic trigonometry for application in constructing truth tables, logic 4. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices. Knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems. Ability to operate a computer. Skill in the selection and ability to use of a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment, and electronic testing equipment and to test complete systems. 5. Ability to install, overhaul, repair, fabricate, calibrate, test, and/or troubleshoot complete electronic systems. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders. 6. Knowledge of USAF Technical Orders Program and its procedures. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing are 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (without aid). ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive heat. Excessive noise, intermittent. Dust.
