Responsibilities:
Summary

This position is responsible for providing reentry services to offenders in accordance with the requirements of the contract and the principles of the GEO's Continuum of Care. This position is responsible for working with offenders in the development of reentry skills such as budgeting, building credit, financial aid and connections to post release community-based resources. The position will also be responsible for processing and purchasing items covered in the Funded Individual Service Package. (FISP). Information vital to Post-Release Services and the FISP process will be entered into GEOtrack. Work requires capabilities in basic accounting and business procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Performs account reconciliations as directed by management: general ledger, preparation of accounting statements and financial reports related to Reentry.

Operates adding machine, calculator, copy machine and other office machines.

Operates a computer system with printer.

Performs simple and routine accounting and bookkeeping clerical functions.

Recognizes and compares numbers and codes on accounting documents.

Verifies mathematical accuracy.

Identifies discrepancies and brings them to management's attention.

Gains an understanding of public domain services such as National Institute of Corrections, National Re-Entry Resource Center, and FDIC Money Smart program.

Utilizes GEO's proprietary electronic case management system "GEOtrack" to record case notes, track offender progress transition services and final discharge planning with Continuum of Care team.

Actively engages community resources to work with released offenders emphasizing the critical first months of release. Works to connect community resources and prosocial people with offenders prior to release via telephone or through visits at facility.

Works to ensure offenders obtain eligible benefits and proper identification prior to release.

Assures timely communication and follow up with State personnel in the best interest of the offenders and successful reintegration.

Participates in appropriate training for designated responsibilities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent certification required.

Two (2) years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of clerical/secretarial, fiscal and accounting experience required.

Ability to prepare written reports; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to learn rules, regulations, and security procedures required by the facility.

Must be flexible, cooperative and empathetic to needs of staff and offenders.

Possess or develop a thorough understanding of the Principles of Effective Intervention that empirical evidence demonstrates reduces recidivism.

Must possess the ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.

Working knowledge of office and accounting practices and procedures required.

Working knowledge of business English, good grammar and spelling skills, and ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives required. Must have a proven history of exercising discretion and retaining confidentiality.

Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Pay:
Pay USD $15.00/Hr.
