Patent Agent
Location: Atlanta, GA Charlotte, NC Dallas, TX New York, NY Washington, DC

An AmLaw 50 international law firm's Intellectual Property Patents Group is seeking a Patent Agent with at least 2 years of experience in computer science or electrical engineering. The position allows for flexible location and involves a dynamic role focused on emerging technologies.


Candidate Profile:



  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.

  • Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, or related fields is advantageous.

  • Strong technical and writing skills.

  • Exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.

  • Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.

  • Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.

  • Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the Patent Office.

  • Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
