Job Summary

IUIAS seeks a Program Manager to lead a newly reorganized Digital Research and Scholarship Initiative housed at the Institute. Working closely and collaboratively with the IAS team and supervised by the IAS Director and Associate Director, this staff person will lead the continuation of and further development of research and scholarly support and consultation for researchers at IU, formerly located in IDAH. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operation of the digital-arts-and-humanities consulting practice.
  • Leads training modules for researchers in both digital-methods research and digital research grant development.
  • Plans and leads the Initiative in the Digital Arts and Humanities (IDAH) Summer Incubator, an intensive summer project-prototype-development workshop.
  • Collaborates with Director, Associate Director, and other staff at the IUIAS on future directions and vision for the future growth of the Digital Research Initiative.
  • Offers leadership in emerging research and methods in digital scholarship with particular emphasis on the intersection of the arts and the humanities.
  • Serves as a hub for Digital Research and Teaching Networks at the University. Engages with internal and external digital-arts-and-humanities networks to advance digital projects at IU,
  • including serving as a liaison to other offices across the University with relevant support systems or services.
  • Develops grant proposals and grant writing capabilities in faculty, as needed.
  • Supervises and mentors 1 full time (20 hours/week) IDAH Graduate Assistant position, and serves as program continuity for IU's participation in the HASTAC program.
General Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs and implements programs or events, including the creation of materials to support these events.
  • Provides staff communications and serves as liaison to program participants, collaborators in other units, community partners, vendors and the public; approves staff purchase requests; arranges staff travel, accommodations, and research activities.
  • Provides mechanisms, training, and advice on a variety of issues such as budget management software and advanced strategies for timely spending of grant funds. May be responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Recruits, trains, directs, schedules, and evaluates faculty and staff partners, students and volunteers. Mentors, serves as a resource and provides guidance to team staff members as needed.
  • Researches available grants and works closely with managers to identify funding needs and potential sources, creates grant proposals that further advance support of the program and program participants; May be responsible for meeting revenue targets.
  • Constructs and administers program budgets and approves spending. Tracks progress on deliverables, analyzes data on projected spending and prepares reports for higher management and funding sources.
  • Keeps abreast of best practices to recommend policies and procedures that deliver a quality program experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years in related field
Preferred
  • Previous experience with digital-arts-and-humanities grants and funding.
  • Experience with a variety of digital-arts-and-humanities methods including computational text analysis, network analysis spatial humanities, makerspace technology and digital storytelling.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
